JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Regional Transport Officer, assist in the repair and maintenance of UNMIT Vehicles; may be assigned either to the Mechanical workshop or Workshop Stores. The incumbent is to perform Pre-Delivery Inspection, A, B and C maintenance/service and general repairs on the standard Commercial pattern UN Vehicles.  He/She would assist with the preparation of those vehicles which have completed their maintenance for delivery to reception for collection, ensuring that they are cleaned, inside and outside; report any usual faults found on any vehicle being repaired and take action to rectify them, after consultation with his/her immediate supervisor. If necessary, provide assistance in the rectification of breakdown faults and recovery of vehicles. As part of a team or with an international staff; assist in movement of vehicles by convoy from the sector to UNMIT HQ or other sectors;
If qualified, will be assigned to the workshop supply parts stores where the incumbent will be expected to assist in the receiving and inspection of spare parts; conduct physical inventory checks; prepare issue and handover voucher for spare parts; perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor. The successful applicant would be expected to live in the general vicinity of the Regional Workshop to which he/she is assigned.

Demonstrated ability to apply good judgment in the context of assignment given. Team Work - Excellent interpersonal skills and maintain effective working relations with sensitive and respect for diversity.  Client Orientation – Tactful, able to act with discretion, and proactive in dealing with problems brought to his/her attention.  Communications – Good interpersonal skills oral and writing skills.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School Diploma.
Experience - Minimum of four years practical experience working as an auto, Vehicle Mechanic or vehicle Spare parts storage and distribution and diesel mechanic. Be familiar with the use of various special tools such as torque wrenches and power tools, hoists, etc., and with workshop safety procedures
Languages - Sufficient spoken English and local languages – East Timor nationality.
