JOB VACANCY

The Fred Hollows Foundation New Zealand (FHFNZ) has a vision of a world where noone is needlessly blind. In Timor-Leste, FHFNZ works with the Ministry of Health and International and Local NGOs to improve eye services and promote eye health. Due to expansion of our projects, we have a number of exciting positions for Timorese nationals to join our small, dedicated team.

Requirements for all positions:

§ Motivated and hardworking
§ Willingness to cooperate with a team of eye care and related health-care workers
§ Working knowledge of English and willingness to learn it further
§ Willingness to participate in training

Specific skills are responsibilities for each position:

Operating Theatre Nurse (1): Diploma 1 Nurse (minimum), registered to practice as a nurse in Timor-Leste; experience in operating theatre preferred; following training, assist ophthalmologist with pre- and post-op patient care, as well as in the operating theatre; monitor medicines, consumables and equipment; district travel will be required.

Eye Care Nurse (2)THIS IS A TRAINING POSITION FOR THE FIRST YEAR: Diploma 1 Nurse (minimum), registered to practice as a nurse in Timor-Leste; willing to undertake the Diploma of Eye Care at ICS in 2009; following training, deliver clinical eye services as part of an eye health team.

Community Health Project Coordinator (1): High School Diploma (minimum); experience in delivery of health promotion activities in a community setting; experience in project coordination; creativity, experience with word, excel and power point.

Operating Theatre Technician (2): High School Diploma (minimum); following training, assist ophthalmologist and operating theatre nurse in the operating theatre; assist with patient counseling prior to surgery; manage the surgical database; district travel will be required.

Office Administrator (1):High School Diploma (minimum); experience in office management including administration, communications, information management and finance management; computer skills; prior experience working with NGOs; you will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the FHFNZ office, and the provision of administrative support to project managers.

EDC 2 Positions deadline 12 December 2008

Background

Education Development Center Inc. (EDC), a US-based, non-profit education research and development organization, is implementing the USAID “Prepara Ami ba Servisu (PAS)” project. Over a period of three years, this project will provide at least 2,500 minimally-educated young rural men and women with a workforce preparation program that combines off-the-job instruction with on-the-job training.

We are currently seeking dynamic and qualified person for the following positions:

1. Work Experience Associate.

The Work Experience Associate will be working on the team that develops work opportunity component of the PAS program. The WEA will be responsible for developing youth work opportunities in targeted rural districts. The WEA will help develop contacts and networks with government agencies, private sector representatives and NGOs in order to identify work opportunities and will be responsible for managing this functional area of the PAS program. The WEA should have the capacity to familiarize him/herself with work sponsor priorities and quality expectations and will have some understanding of the livelihood development needs of rural Timorese. The WEA will have a familiarity with government policies and priorities regarding infrastructure and agriculture projects.

2. Accountant

Assist the Financial/Administrative Manager in managing accounting activities; such as salaries, receipts, accounts payable, bank reconciliation, cash control, assets management, financial reporting, financial aspects of grant making and compliance with USAID requirements. Must have financial experience with an international contractor or equivalent and a strong accounting education.

Applicants must have a working knowledge of English and fluency in Tetun and Bahasa Indonesian.
