POSITIONS FOR NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR ACADEMIC ASSESSMENT AND ACCREDITATION (NCAAA)
The Ministry of Education (MoE) in Timor-Leste is creating a National Commission for Academic Assessment and Accreditation (NCAAA) which will be headed by an Executive Director. The Executive Director will be supported by two Quality Officers (QO’s) and two mid level support staff for a 12 month period commencing January 2010:
Staff responsibilities and qualifications
Quality Officers (two positions)
The quality officers can come from various backgrounds, but would have had several years of experience within a university or other institution of higher education. QOs must be experienced in reading and digesting papers and information on academic matters, and able to understand the consequences of various policies and practices. QOs must be efficient, able to work satisfactorily and under pressure as both a full and as a support member of a team, and able to be tactful but firm in guiding the team through the accreditation process.
Specific qualifications are:

- Postgraduate degree (Doctorate or terminal professional degree preferred)
- Commitment to higher education
- Experience in senior administrative and/or teaching experience at an institution of higher education, association or agency
- Fluency in Portuguese and English
Support staff
Support staff should be able to assist the QOs in liaising with the institutions and reviewers. They need adequate computer skills to maintain records and manage communications. One of them needs accounting background.
Specific qualifications are:
- Degree with adequate computer skills
- Ability to analyse data and support the QOs in seeking data from the institutions, one of them with accounting background
- Fluency in Portuguese and English
