Education Development Center (EDC)
Education Development Center Inc. (EDC), a US-based, non-profit education research and development organization, is implementing the USAID Prepara Ami ba Servisu (PAS) program in Timor Leste. This program provides young, minimally-educated rural men and women with a workforce preparation program that combines off-the-job instruction with on-the-job training.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and qualified person for the position of Market Development Associate or Specialist with the following duties:
The Market Development Associate or Specialist is responsible for facilitating the Accompaniment Phase of the PAS program. The MDA/S is responsible for developing relationships with collaborators to support youth participant internship, employment, self-employment and further training opportunities in targeted rural districts.
Duties
• Facilitate the second phase of the PAS program (Livelihood Accompaniment)
• Develop relationships with market collaborators (in education, private sector, government, etc)
• Work with staff and Training Partners on ways to support and mentor youth as they explore different livelihood pathways in the Districts
• Identify appropriate training and trainers in the Districts for skills training seminars
• Works with the program development and implementation team to ensure that the field operations pertaining to Accompaniment are fully functioning and operational.
• Has familiarity with government policies pertaining to youth, including priority sectors of income generation/employment, sports, agriculture and infrastructure projects and particularly as this pertains to the local level in the Districts.
• Fosters and models collegiality among staff creating an overall atmosphere of productivity, innovation and teamwork
For the above position, candidates must be Timorese citizens, must have at least a secondary school diploma, university degree preferred, and previous relevant work experience. Candidates must have a working knowledge of English (reading, writing and speaking) and must speak Tetun and/or Bahasa Indonesian.
