JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Chief of Unit or his designated officers, the incumbent is responsible for manipulating, managing, and processing GIS Data and digitizing and vectorizing existing paper maps and products at UNMIT.
The GIS Assistant will compile, texture and graphic products, and electronic format of geographic data as well as other source data; update converted data and maintain the GIS Database; process and catalogue costumer request; assists the Chief GIS in coordinating meetings and visits with various UN and local agencies; perform clerical work and carry on daily routine. Performs any other official duties and carried out other tasks as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Planning and organizing - Ability to prioritize work and assignments, meet deadlines and sometimes work under pressure of multiple deadlines. Computer skills – Good computer skills, including proficiency in Word and Excel, and PowerPoint or similar software.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Education: High school or equivalent diploma is required; a combination of relevant certification/diploma or other academic qualifications; training in cartography or geography is an asset.
Experience: Minimum of four years relevant working experience; Familiarity with UN rules, regulations, administrative instructions and other related documents is desired.

Languages: Fluency in English and Tatum is required; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is desirable.

A good driving ability is essential, must hold a national driver’s license.
