RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the general supervision of the Radio Producer and the immediate supervision of the Senior Radio Production Assistant, the incumbent will be responsible for the production of radio programs including public service announcements, news stories, features and documentaries for local use; Research, write, produce and broadcast radio news, feature/documentary programs in Tetun on the activities of the United Nations; Monitor on a daily basis the activities of organization, funds and programs within the country. He/She will initiate contact and liaise with substantive departments of the United Nations System and other relevant sources on topical issues for radio programming; Conduct interviews, gather audio material, perform audio editing and management of sound files; Undertake digital editing and recording; Undertake relevant research within and outside the UN, and field assignments to generate original materials and other actuality for programming; Liaise with broadcasting and non-governmental organizations regarding usage of radio programs; Contribute ideas to program planning and promotional efforts; Undertake travel assignments as and when required.

Team work – Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment, respect for diversity. Planning and organizing - Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and sometimes work under pressure. Technological awareness – Knowledge of and experience in audio production technology and related systems (e.g. CoolEditPro/Adobe Audition Single/Multi-track and/or Word/Wordpad).
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Completion of secondary education; supplemental training and certifications in radio journalism or broadcasting, communications, public information, or a particular communications medium is an asset. Experience: A minimum of 4 years of experience in national and/or international broadcasting as a radio news writer/producer, communications or public relations is required. Experience with field reporting is desirable. Hands-on practical experience in digital sound editing, Internet research and electronic posting is an asset. Languages: Fluency in English and Tetum is required, Portuguese and Bahasa Indonesia is desirable.
