Position Title: Disaster Risk Management Sector (DRM) Coordinator - 1
Place of Assignment: Maliana with frequent travel to Liquica, Bobonaro and Ermera districts
Duration: 5 April 2010 to 30 July 2013
Reports to: National Project Manager and Deputy Project Manager


PROJECT BACKGROUND
HAN, an EuropeAid funded (EC) project, will be supporting 3,000 vulnerable households in target communities in Liquica and Bobonaro and Ermera districts in Timor Leste. The specific objective of HAN project is ‘3,000 vulnerable households in target communities in Liquica, Bobonaro and Ermera Districts have improved access to adequate quantity of diverse food in a sustainable manner.’ HAN contributes to achieving the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG), and national priority on food security of Republic Democratic Timor Leste.

JOB SUMMARY
-          Conduct participatory disaster risk assessment in target villages
-          Plan, implement, monitor and supervise disaster risk management activities at community level 
-          Develop capacity of field staff and target communities in the areas of community-based natural resource management, disaster preparedness and risk reduction
-          Assist to strengthen disaster management committees at suco, sub-district and district levels
-          Coordinate with other stakeholders working in the DRM sector at different levels

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • University degree in agriculture or forestry or related subject
  • At least two year experience in community mobilization and empowerment
  • Strong experience in providing community level training and workshops
  • Preference is given to candidates who are from the respective districts
  • Driving license holder for motorbike
