GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of Resident Coordinator Unit, the UN Coordination Analyst provides assistance to the execution of services in the UN Resident Coordinator Unit by providing substantive/programmatic support to the core functions of the RC Unit/ Office of DSRSG and undertaking the administrative functions of the Unit.

The UN Coordination Analyst works in close collaboration with the operations programme and project staff of the UN Agencies and relevant staff in UNMIT. 

Duties and Responsibilities

1.      Ensures effective support to UNCT in the implementation of UNDAF focusing on achievement of the following results:
q          Participation in the work of inter-agency working groups on a number of socio-economic issues.
q          Support to the organization of UNCT meetings as necessary, including taking of minutes, preparation of documentation, following up on pending decisions,etc.
q          Compile information and tables about progress in UNDAF implementation.

2.      Ensures effective supports in preparation and implementation of the UN Coordination Work Plan, focusing on the achievement of results:

q          Preparation and collection of inputs to the RC Work Plan and Annual Report.
q          Maintain overall records of UNCT ongoing activities, in view of fostering collaboration amongst
UN agencies and with UNMIT.
q          Serve as focal point to monitor that inter-agency working groups work-plans advance as per the UNCT goals for each year.

   3.    Ensures effective performance in all level administrative task of the Resident Coordination Unit, focusing on the achievement of results:

q          Preparation of materials, other administrative arrangements, compiling, information packages, and briefing notes.
q          Process expenditures for the RC Unit and maintain budget reviews updates for the RC Unit funds.
q          Ensure that other relevant administrative tasks for the unit are performed up to date.


4.    Ensure facilitation and sharing of information related to the work of the UN agencies, funds, and programmes:
q          Implement information and communication related activities of the unit.  Identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned directly linked to country policy goals.
q          Establish networks with UN agencies/units for the regular preparation and dissemination of the “UN Calendar and Documents of Interest”.  Preparation of other public information materials as required.
q          Training to UN staff on integration and coordination issues, in English and Tetum.
q          Establishing and maintaining other relevant information such as donor assistance to the UN per sector.  Maintain other databases as required.


QUALIFICATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

·         Bachelor Degree in Economics, Social Sciences, International Relations, Political Sciences or related field. Masters Degree would be an advantage, but not required.

§         At least 4 years of relevant experience in programmatic and administrative experience.  Knowledge about the UN and RC systems would be an advantage.

§         Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc). 

§         Fluent in English and good writing skills.  Fluency in the national languages an advantage.
