Education Development Center (EDC) Deputy Chief of Party - Open Until Filled

Background
Education Development Center Inc. (EDC), a US-based, non-profit education research and development organization, is implementing the USAID “Prepara Ami Ba Servisu” project in Timor Leste. Over a period of three years, the PAS project will provide at least 2,500 minimally-educated rural men and women, ages 16-30, with a workforce preparation program that combines off-the-job instruction with on-the-job training.

We are currently seeking dynamic and qualified person for the following vacant position:

Deputy Chief of Party
The ideal Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will have at least two years experience designing and managing youth oriented programs; at least two years experience managing staff; be able to interact with Government, NGO and community officials; know how to implement programs with bi-lateral/multi-lateral donor funding.

The DCOP will facilitate the implementation of the PAS Program and oversee all field based activities and will work in conjunction with the implementation team to achieve program objectives. In partnership with the program development team, the DCOP will ensure that the PAS Program curriculum and instructional materials and work experience opportunities are relevant for youth participants. The DCOP will work closely with all staff, including field staff, on ensuring efficient and high-quality learning and work experience opportunities.

The DCOP should be able to travel to the Districts and stay long periods of time as needed; should have excellent written and oral English and Tetun; should have excellent computer skills; should have a University degree and be able to lead a dynamic team. This position is based in Dili.
