Location: Timor-Leste - Dili

Under the direction of the Country Representative, the Deputy Country Representative provides leadership support and is responsible for assisting the Country Representative in managing the Foundation’s work in Timor-Leste, including security, fiscal and grant management; the direction, supervision, and evaluation of employees, and the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program activities as assigned. The Deputy Country Representatives also assist the Country Representative in representing The Asia Foundation with host government, donors, partner agencies, diplomatic missions, national and international institutions, and the media.

Requirements:

  • Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience or the equivalent, in international development or foreign affairs in Asia, with private, public, bilateral or multilateral development institutions and non-profit organizations.
  • Experience in proposal and report-writing, financial and grants management and budget control, strategic planning, fundraising, and managing international donor-funded projects.
  • Demonstrated writing ability; multidisciplinary team management, team building and supervisory skills; strong analytical and problem solving skills, flexibility, patience, and sensitivity; proven interpersonal and intercultural skills.
  • Living and working experience in Timor-Leste, Indonesia, Pacific Islands or the Southeast Asia region, with knowledge of related languages. Experience or familiarity with Asia Foundation programs.

· Master’s degree or better in political, science, law, public or business administration, economics, Asian studies or related field. Academic or applied background in one or more of the following fields; political science, law, social science research, public policy, public administration, international relations, women’s education/development, economics, and Asian studies.
