WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian Food Aid Agency helping more than 90 million people, with an annual budget of nearly US$3 billion. In Timor Leste we aim to assist approximately 250,000 people through School Meals, Mother & Child Health Care, Food For Work and Emergency Relief.

We are currently seeking a qualified candidate for the following post

Post Title: Tally Clerk

Contract Type: Service Contract

Post grade: SC-2

Duration: One year Service Contract (with 3 months’ probation period) renewable

Duty Station: Dili

Deadline of Application: 24th August 2009

Duties/Responsibilities:

Under the direct supervision of the WFP Logistic Officer, Tally Clerk will be responsible for, not limited to, the following duties.

q Supervise the loading, off-loading and stacking of the commodities, and assist the store keeper to keep updated records on stack card, and/or computer inventory lists;

q Make appropriate remarks on WFP tally sheets when differences are observed between consigned and received quantities;

q Supervise cleaning exercise after loading and off-loading and reconstitution exercise when required;

q Check and control incoming goods both food and non food commodities by such methods as physical counts, random weight checks, rejection of any spoiled commodity, reconditioning of underweight bags, etc to ascertain that they meet the required specifications and to report anomalies if any;

q Prepare the delivery of goods upon request of the storekeeper against official and approved documentation;

q Participate in periodic physical inventory checks as assigned by the storekeeper;

q Timely report and, in consultation with the storekeeper, undertake re-bagging/re-packing, reconstitution and segregation of damaged food;

q Implement proper stacking according to commodity and Shipping Instruction (SI) numbers;

q Prepare dispatch tally sheets for commodities issued from the warehouse;

q Issue WFP Waybill against loading instruction/tally sheets and distribute as per WFP guidelines;

q Record all commodity receipts, issues and disposal on stack cards;

q Assist the storekeepers’ supervision and training of casual labor;

q Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Secondary School education
  • At least one year of related experiences in inventory keeping or warehousing in logistic/transport operations.
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills including keyboard/mouse skills and knowledge of common basic software packages. Knowledge of commonly used office equipment.
  • Fluency in both oral and written English. Knowledge of local languages.
