Background
Education Development Center Inc. (EDC), a US-based, non-profit education research and development organization, is implementing the USAID “Prepara Ami Ba Servisu” project in Timor Leste. Over a period of three years, the PAS project will provide at least 2,500 minimally-educated rural men and women, ages 16-30, with a workforce preparation program that combines off-the-job instruction with on-the-job training.
We are currently seeking dynamic and qualified persons for the following vacant positions:
Work Experience Associate
The Work Experience Associate will be responsible for working on the team that develops the work opportunity component of the PAS program. The WEA will be responsible for developing youth work opportunities in targeted rural districts. The WEA will help develop contacts and networks with government agencies, private sector representatives and NGOs in order to identify work opportunities and will be responsible for managing this functional area of the PAS program. The WEA should have the capacity to familiarize him/herself with work sponsor priorities and quality expectations and will have some understanding of the livelihood development needs of rural Timorese. The WEA will have a familiarity with government policies and priorities regarding infrastructure and agriculture projects.
Trainers
After a period of orientation and apprenticeship, Trainers will be responsible for delivering initial and follow-up training workshops to District level staff and partner NGOs, including local project trainers and team leaders, in up to 12 locations around the country. Frequent travel to the Districts will be necessary, sometimes with overnight stays. A minimal level of English proficiency is required.

experience adapting materials to meet the needs of participants
experience in program planning, scheduling and follow-up activities with participants
high priority will be given to holders of an Australian Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment
3. District Coordinators
The District Coordinator (DC) is responsible for project implementation in multiple sites in selected districts. Currently we are seeking at least one candidate from each of the following Districts: Baucau, Lautem, Manatuto, Viqueque, Bobonaro, Aileu and Suai. The ideal DC candidate will already be living in the Districts, will have a demonstrated capacity to manage projects and staff; will be able to identify work opportunities and network with appropriate Government, NGO, and private sector officials. Frequent travel within and between Districts is required and English proficiency is preferred, but not required. This position is based in the Districts.
